About us
Muvez was founded in New Jersey by Eric Cruz, Ryan Cruz, and Kevin Zamora. The idea started with a practical frustration: there was no shoe that worked well both inside and outside the home without requiring you to change footwear at the door.
Eric Cruz first confronted this problem while playing sports changing into cleats for practice and back out again after, every time. After graduating from Kean University with a degree in management and earning a master’s in business and sports administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University, he left a career path in corporate media to build the shoe he couldn’t find.
The first prototype was built by hand using materials sourced from a hardware store, with a silicone mold made from an actual foot impression. That version was crude. What followed was years of development, material testing, and design refinement before a production-ready version was ready.
In 2019, Muvez launched the 3:AM shoe on Kickstarter, reaching 292 backers and raising over $33,000. The concept was validated: people wanted a shoe that did both jobs.
In April 2020, Muvez appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank Season 11. The founders presented the 3:AM to the Sharks, explaining the dual sole system, the sales trajectory, and the brand’s direction. Daymond John recognized the product and the team.
The dual sole system a breathable knit slipper with a detachable EVA outsole that clicks off at the door and back on for outdoor use is patent-pending. It’s the only system of its kind built into a consumer footwear product at this scale.
Today, Muvez shoes are sold on Amazon in men’s, women’s, and unisex sizing. The mission hasn’t changed: build practical footwear for the part of the day that standard shoes ignore.
Our mission: Design footwear that solves a real problem keeping homes cleaner, reducing the friction of daily transitions, and making everyday life slightly more practical.
